GUDBYE T' JON
Jon Clayton will leave his role as Buzfuz bass/cello player after the gig at The Archway Tavern next Saturday. Jon joined Charlotte Hatherley’s band as bassist last year and with 2007 set to be a busy year for Charlotte and her band Jon has decided to quit. Jon also plays with Stuffy/The Fuses and in a project with his girlfriend Jen.
The band wish him the best of luck for the future. Jon will probably continue to act as engineer/producer for Buzfuz recordings.

WHITE ROSE AND THISTLES TOUR
The Archway gig was set to be the last band gig for a while anyway as Joe is focussing on solo activity. February sees a short tour of Yorkshire and Scotland for Joe accompanied by Polly MacLean of Kinkajou on duetting duties. The White Rose and Thistles Tour sees Yorkshireman Joe and Scots lass Polly return home to visit Hull, Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Sheffield. See Gigs. In March Joe is to start recording a solo Buzfuz album.

SHAKENSTIR ALBUM OF THE YEAR
The Jewelled Carriageway was chosen as one of Shakenstir.co.uk’s albums of the year for ’06. As with Fire Horse the album was ignored in the mainstream press but appreciated in the underground!

CARGO DISTRIBUTE ALBUM
Cargo are distributing the Blang label so The Jewelled Carriageway is now available in specialist record shops across the UK.

December news, looking back: 2006, forward: 2007
Monday, 18 December 2006

Happy Christmas to all who came to gigs or bought records this year! We hope you and your’s have a peaceful Xmas.
The first Buzfuz video on Youtube is a live performance of Who Are You? From the August gig at The Windmill in Brixton.
Last week’s Xmas Blang featured Xmas songs from all the acts and Joe guested on electric (“Judas” shouted Filthy Pedro when Joe played it in the earlier Buzfuz set) guitar for Paul Hawkins And Thee Awkward Silences. The Buzfuz set concluded with Filthy Pedro, Lou Psyche and Paul Hawkins joining Polly and Joe on kazoos for Fairytale Of New York.
Joe and Polly made their first appearance under the name Smoke And Mirrors at the Xmas Bucket Of Fun in Stoke Newington on Friday.

The band’s highlights of 2006 included:
The 50th Blang in March
The Jewelled Carriageway being released in September
The launch gig for the LP at Camden Rock Café
Swallows becoming the first Buzfuz song to get national radio play on radio 3’s Mixing It
Making their first video (for Swallows – more news on this very soon).

Expect news early in ’07 about:
A solo Joe tour of the kingdoms of Yorkshire and Scotland in February.
The video for Swallows directed by Tom Mayne of DCW.
Blang Records releasing records by Filthy Pedro and David Cronenberg’s Wife.
More Blangs at the 12 Bar Club including the 5th anniversary/Valentine’s special on Feb 14.
Happy Xmas
Sergeant Buzfuz xxxxx
