I love its spirit, I love the idea behind it, I love the fact that it’s like nothing else I’ve ever heard” (Mark Lamarr, Radio 2) “Absolutely brilliant” (Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music) “they have taken the Sixties back catalogue and asked Gorky's Zygotic Mynci to give it a remix” (bbc.co.uk London Calling site)

PAUL HAWKINS AND THEE AWKWARD SILENCES/WAR SONGS/TEARDROP EXPLODES Buzfuz have several links with Thee Awkward Silences. Kate sometimes plays violin with them, Joe has guested live on guitar and keyboards with them and Silences drummer Ian Button helped on the new album after Buzfuz split with ex-drummer Martin Parker. Joe is playing a gig, partly solo, partly with Polly MacLean, at the launch of the new Silences single ‘The Battle Is Over’ at the Betsy Trotwood on Saturday August 9th. They’ll be playing a set of war-related covers songs. Then on Saturday September 12th the band are playing at the launch gig for the Silences album ‘We Are Not Other People’ at the 12 Bar Club where all the guest acts are playing sets by other people. Buzfuz are playing a 4 song Teardrop Explodes set. Thee Awkward Silences are rumoured to be doing a Pet Shop Boys set. Kinkajou are doing The Fatima Mansions. Other sets include The Doors and Motley Crue.
