What's happening with Sergeant Buzfuz?
Friday, 17 April 2009

I’m playing a solo gig at The Fenton in Leeds this Saturday 18th, onstage 10.10 pm and it sounds like a really good night.

Next Friday 24th the band are playing at the Offline night at Brixton’s Prince Albert. With Rich having left the drumstool our mate Ian Button, who played on half the new album, will be thwacking the skins for us.

This week I remixed a Lucy’s Diary track which should be a forthcoming LD B side. Lucy’s Diary are my Blang label colleague JJ Crash and Lucy Joplin. They’re kinda garage indie. Ian Button recorded their album, which should be out on Blang this year.

Next Thursday night (23rd) at 8 30 or so I’m doing a live radio interview with the best-named radio station in the world, yes Radio Scilly. You can tune in online at Radio Scilly.

We now have all our albums streamed for you to listen to at Last.FM. We’ll get the singles up there soon and more videos.
Our Last FM page here.

And if you really want more regular news like what I’ve had for breakfast and how our cat is then you can ‘follow’ me on Twitter.

Will be sending a Blang label mailout soon (DCW on Marc Riley next Thursday 24th too, 7 to 9 pm)
Keep well y’all
Joe

"High Slang" in shops now
Sunday, 15 February 2009

The 4th Sergeant Buzfuz album is now in the shops. It’s called “High Slang” (BLANG 15). Available as CD and download. See online reviews here.

“Universally charming” (NME)

“ Dazzling...Referencing 1960s punk, psychedelia, German-rock, Irish folk, glam-rock and drone, Sergeant Buzfuz achieve a harmonious, chiming mash-up, sounding like none of the above. ‘High Slang’ should be the record which catapults the band out of the underground” (Aesthetica)

“Ceaselessly inventive...14 candidates for John Peel’s Festive Fifty (RIP)” (TimeOut)

“Buzfuz are a bloody riot” (Plan B)

“songs full of spirit, an album full of them” (Organ: Album Of The Week)

“Blending an awe inspiring instrumental with poetic and story-telling lyrics on each and every song its difficult to be even remotely bored by this band.” (Music-Zine)

“Sergeant Buzfuz definitely do whatever they like and they definitely have something to say. Endearing and compelling,” (Supersweet)

“Razor-sharp lyrical wit” (Alternative Ulster)

“The problem with dumbing down radio is that it means most people never to get hear bands like Sergeant Buzfuz.” (Fatea Magazine)
